FRANCIS A. OELLIG Francis A. Oellig was born in Waynesboro, the son of Dr. John and Catherine (Nicodemus) Oellig. He received his preliminary education in the schools of Waynesboro and studied medicine with his father, and began the practice of medicine at Funkstown now Mont Alto, sometime prior to 1846. In 1846-47 he attended one course of lectures at the University of Maryland and later in 1847 located at Martinsburg, Pa., where he was in practice for two years. In 1849 he removed to near Upton, on a farm, where he was in continuous practice until his death in 1885. He married Margaretta Byers. Dr. John B. Oellig was a son.
