D. 1849-1927 John B. Oellig was born June 10, 1849, in Martinsburg, Pa., the son of Dr. Francis A. and Margaretta (Byers) Oellig. He received his education in the common schools and select schools of his time and then studied medicine with his father. In 1874 he attended one course of lectures at the Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia. He then matriculated at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Baltimore, Md., and was graduated M. D. in 1876 from this institution. Dr. Oellig located at once at Millerstown, Pa., where he practiced medicine for ten years and then removed to the homestead near Upton and practiced medicine for some years and then retired from practice, making his home in Greencastle, Pa. He died January 17, 1927. He married in 1886, Clemantine Long, now deceased. Dr. Oellig was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
