JOHN J. OELLIG John J. Oellig was born in Waynesboro, the son of Dr. John and Catherine (Nicodemus) Oellig. He received his education at Emmettsburg College, from which he graduated. He studied medicine with his father and attended at least one year's course of lectures at the University of Maryland. He began the practice of medicine in Waynesboro about the same time of his father's death, 1840. He had the prestige of his father's reputation and was shrewd and tactful, holding his clientele who became his loyal and enthusiastic followers. He did an extensive and lucrative business for many years. He died in 1869 in Waynesboro. His wife was Rebecca Devoris of Baltimore.
