D. 1870-1916 E. W. Palmer was born in 1870 in Greencastle, Pa., a son of Charles H. and Catherine Palmer. He left the common schools early in life to learn the printing trade in the Echo-Pilot newspaper in Greencastle. He later served as reporter with the Harrisburg Patriot and on York, Philadelphia and Baltimore newspapers. Deciding to study medicine he matriculated at the Baltimore Medical College and was graduated M. D. in 1902 from this school. Dr. Palmer at once began the practice of medicine in Greencastle as a partner with Dr. C. M. McLaughlin. After several years this partnership was dissolved and Dr. Palmer continued alone in the practice of medicine in Greencastle until his death in 1916. Dr. Palmer was a member of the Medical Society and on the Staff of Chambersburg Hospital and was a very active practitioner. He was President of the Greencastle School Board at the time of his death. His wife was Miss Belle Yous of Greencastle.
