D. 1812-1841 Dr. Phillips was born in 1812 in Frederick County, Md., a son of Thomas and Mary (Eichelberger) Phillips. He began the practice of medicine at St. Thomas and was there about two years when he died in 1841. Dr. Phillips was visiting a patient "at the mountain" on a cold night and while crossing a stream on his way home his horse laid down in the water and the Doctor was compelled to ride quite a distance in wet clothes. He contracted pneumonia from the exposure and died.
