PHILLIPY, M. D. Dr. Phillipy is a son of Isaac and Catherine (Shank) Phillipy. He was born in 1863 near Greencastle, Pa., and received his education in the public schools and at Zeigler's Academy in Greencastle. Dr. Phillipy studied medicine with Dr. D. F. Royer at Shady Grove and received his degree M. D. in 1884 from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa., and in 1894 had a post graduate course at Philadelphia Polyclinic. Dr. Phillipy began the practice of medicine at Shady Grove in 1884. Two years later he removed to Bloserville, Cumberland County, and in 1894 he located in Carlisle, Pa., where he has been since in active practice. Dr. Phillipy entered the United States Army Medical Service in July, 1917, at Camp Greenleaf, Ga., and on April 1, 1918, he was assigned to Camp Gordon, Ga., as Chief of the Tuberculosis Service. He entered service as 1st Lieutenant and was discharged as a Major and now holds a Major's commission in the Reserve Medical Corps. He is now, and has been for some time, Chief of State Tubercular Clinic for Cumberland County, Pa. Dr. Phillipy married in 1884, Miss Katie Johnson.
