SAMUEL FOX REYNOLDS 1802 – 1881 Dr. Reynolds was a practicing physician, Eclectic System, in Chambersburg for many years until his death in 1881. His wife was Hannah Maygar, born 1812, died 1895. They are buried in Zion Reformed Churchyard. Dr. Reynolds was born in 1802 in Franklin County, Virginia. His family were land holders and consequently slave holders. At about twenty years of age he went on horseback to Boston to study medicine. In that patriotic city he became an Abolitionist and this practically caused a break with his family. He practiced medicine in Baltimore City and in Hagerstown and in 1837 came to Chambersburg, Pa., where he continued to live and practice medicine until the time of his death.
