RIPPLE, M. D. 1845-1908 John M. Ripple was born in 1845 at Beaver Dam, Md., the son of Joseph and Mary (Sheeler) Ripple. He received a common school education and then taught for a time in the rural schools. He began the study of medicine as a student with Drs. Frantz and Snively, then partners in Waynesboro. After the usual course of lectures he was graduated M. D. in 1868 from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa., and located at once in Waynesboro. Dr. Ripple was a man with remarkable energy and tact, and enjoyed an extensive practice. He developed quite a business talent and built a number of houses in Waynesboro and for a time was president of the Geiser Manufacturing Company. Dr. Ripple was admitted to the Medical Society in 1873 and readmitted in 1883. He married in 1872 Margaret Lee Cook of Quincy Township.
