H. Seaton was born in 1885 at McClellandtown, Pa., the son of Lewis M. and Julia (Stacey) Seaton. He obtained his education in the public schools and at the Ohio Northern University at Ada, Ohio. After teaching for four years he entered the Medical Department of the University of Pittsburgh and was graduated M. D. in 1910 from this school. The following year he served as Interne in the Uniontown Hospital. From July, 1911, to December, 1916, he was located at Grays Landing, Fayette County, Pa. On the latter date he removed to Chambersburg and has since been in active practice here. Dr. Seaton was President of the Fayette County Medical Society in 1916, transferred to Medical Society of Franklin County in 1917 and is now a member. He is a member of the Hospital Staff and pays special attention to general surgery. At present he is a member of the Board of Health. Dr. Seaton entered Medical Service of the Army and was assigned to duty with the British Forces and was first sent, September, 1917, to Queen Mary's Hospital, Whalley, England. In December, 1917 he was transferred to Leeds University for special work in surgery. In January, 1918, he was transferred to Officers Training Camp, Black Pool, England, and in March, 1918, was assigned to duty with B. E. F. and sent to 87th Field Ambulance, 29th Division at Ypres. In May, 1918, he was assigned to 64th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, replacing Captain Clair U. S. M. C. of Philadelphia, Pa., who had been killed in action. Captain Seaton was awarded the British Military Cross for Meritorious Service during the summer and fall warfare of 1918. In March, 1919, he was recalled to the A. E. F. at Camp St. Aignon, France, and was discharged at Camp Dix on June 5, 1919. He was married in 1911 to Charlotte M. Bietsch, R. N., of Chambersburg.
