D. S. D. Shull was born in 1880 in Marion, Pa., the son of George and Nancy (Reisher) Shull. He received his preliminary education in the common schools of the County and then began to study pharmacy, taking the degree Ph. G. in 1903 from Department of Pharmacy, Medico Chirurgical College and after the usual attendance received his degree M. D. in 1908 from the Department of Medicine of the same institution. He then served as Interne in the Frankford Hospital, Philadelphia, for one year. He at once located in Chambersburg and has been in active, continuous practice since graduation. Dr. Shull is a member of the Medical Society and served as President in 1919 and as Secretary 1922 to 1924. He was physician to the County Home 1922 to 1924 and is the present Coroner of the County, having been elected in 1923 and reelected in 1927. Dr. Shull is a member of the Hospital Staff and specializes in general surgery. He has had a post graduate course with the Mayo Brothers of Rochester, Minn., and in 1925 took the eight week trip to Europe with the Interstate Post Graduate Assembly, visiting some of the main hospitals in England, Scotland, Ireland and France. He is a member of the Gorgas Memorial Institute of Tropical and Preventive Medicine, and a member of the Pennsylvania Governing Committee. Dr. Shull is a Republican and a member of the Lutheran Church. He married Miss Elva Hutton of Chambersburg.
