D. 1867 - 1916 Dr. W. F. Skinner was born December 23, 1867, at Dry Run in Path Valley, a son of John W. and Emmaline (Woods) Skinner. He received his education in the common schools and at Dry Run Academy, and then began the study of medicine with Dr. E. Gilmore Jones at Dry Run. Dr. Skinner attended lectures at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa., graduating M. D., 1890. He began the practice of medicine at Ickesburg, Pa., but after one year at this place he removed to St. Thomas in April, 1891, buying the property and practice of Dr. R. W. Ramsey, who removed to Chambersburg at this time. Dr. Skinner enjoyed a lucrative practice at St. Thomas and remained here until 1900 when he removed to Chambersburg and was in active and successful practice in this town until the time of his death in 1916. Dr. Skinner was a member of the Medical Society from 1892, President of the same 1898 and its Treasurer at the time of his death. He was an active member of the Hospital Staff and served one term as Coroner of the County and at the time of his death was County Treasurer. In 1890 he married Lottie Blanche Skinner of Dry Run.
