D. 1871-1918 G. Lewis Smith was born in 1871 at Middlespring and grew to manhood in Orrstown. He was a son of Wm. B. and Miranda (Means) Smith. Dr. Smith first studied Pharmacy and was graduated Ph. G. in 1892. He then began the study of medicine and after the required course, was graduated M. D. in 1897 from the University of Pennsylvania, after which he spent one year at Hahneman Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa., and received his degree M. D. in 1898 from this institution. Dr. Smith located in Germantown, Philadelphia, and was in active work at the same place until his death in 1918. He married Catherine Sidebottom of Philadelphia.
