D. 1841-1908 S. K. Snively was born in 1841 in Guilford Township, the son of John and Catherine (Keefer) Snively, and a brother of Dr. Isaac Newton Snively of Waynesboro. He was educated in the common schools and at Chambersburg Academy. He enlisted at the opening of the Civil War for three months and at the end of this service reenlisted for three years. He remained in the service until the close of the war, becoming a sergeant and was mustered out in Texas, November, 1865. He then began the study of medicine with his brother, Dr. I. N. Snively in Waynesboro and after the usual course was graduated M. D. in 1869 from Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Snively began the practice of medicine with his brother, Dr. A. J. Snively in Hanover, Pa., remaining in this town until 1890 when he removed to Williamsport, Md., and continued in the work at this place until the time of his death. He married in 1879, Annie E. Dellinger of Washington County, Md.
