D. George A. Sowell was born April 5, 1893, in West Chester, Pa., a son of George A. and Ametia (Joos) Sowell. He was educated in the public schools, graduating from the Moorestown High School. After taking pre-medical work at Haverford College, he entered the Medical Department of Temple University, Philadelphia, Pa., and was graduated M. D., 1915, from this institution. He was an honor man in his class, taking prizes in Proctology, in Medicine and in Surgery. He served one year as Interne in the Samaritan Hospital and in 1916 located in Greencastle, where he since has been in practice. Dr. Sowell specializes in Surgery and for a time has been at the head of the Surgical Department of the Waynesboro Hospital. He is a member of the County Medical Society, a Republican in politics and by faith a Presbyterian. He married Miss Ethel Boureau.
