D. Helen M. Stewart was born in 1884 in Chambersburg, Pa., a daughter of the late Justice John Stewart and a granddaughter of Dr. Alexander Stewart, who for many years was the leading physician and a prominent citizen of Shippensburg, Pa. Dr. Stewart received her medical education at the Women's Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa., graduating M. D. in 1911 from this institution. Dr. Stewart practiced medicine in Philadelphia 1911 to 1915 when she registered in Franklin County, and has since followed the profession in Chambersburg, as partner with Dr. Ella M. Russell. They limit their practice to diseases of eye, and have been successful in this special work. Dr. Stewart is a member of the Medical Society and of the Chambersburg Hospital Staff, and by faith a member of the Presbyterian Church.
