WILLIAM RIPPEY STEWART 1802-1867 William Rippey Stewart was born in 1802 near Shippensburg, the son of Dr. Alexander and Jane (Rippey) Stewart. He studied medicine and began the practice of the profession at Upper Strasburg. In 1827 he removed to York Springs, Adams County, where he successfully practiced medicine until the time of his death in 1867. Dr. Stewart married in 1827, Diana McKinney, a daughter of David and Eleanor (Quigley) McKinney. David McKinney was a Justice of the Peace and owned and conducted the "Upper Hotel" in Strasburg for many years.
