Donehoo _______________________________________________ Page 333 GEORGE E. REED, D.D., a native of Brownville, Maine b. March 28, 1846 son of Rev. George and Ann Hellyer Reed. George E. Reed D. February 6, 1930. On June 20, 1870 Rev. George E. Reed m. Ella F, dau of George and Sara Leffinwell of Norwich Conn. To this couple one child was b. George L. Reed, a lawyer and member of the PA legislature. While Rev. Reed was pastor of the Trinity Church in New Haven Conn., he received an invitation from the trustees at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA to become the President of the college. During his 22 years in that position he established the Dickinson School of Law with Dr. William Trickett. Rev. Reed was appointed Pennsylvania State Librarian by Gov. Wm. A. Stone. In 1911 he tendered his resignation to Dickinson College. In 1915 he retired to his home in Harrisburg, PA where he remained active in public welfare until his death in 1930.
