Patriot Publishing Company 1878 Pg.345 to 346 MARKES, McDowell Mill, Bridgeport and Lemasters by Eugene Etter--Peters Twp. This is the title of the piece in the chapter on Twps. Eugene Etter wrote about Markes, which was, I believe, Peters Twp. McDowells Mill, Bridgeport and Lemasters. The Upper West Conococheague church served this area. This follows the info about Waddels/Etters graveyard already posted in the archives at http://files.usgwarchives.net/pa/franklin/cemeteries/sprg0001.txt The Presbyterian graveyard at Church Hill is almost as old as the Spring Grove Cemetery and contains the graves of many early settlers. There are two French and Indian War Veterans, twelve Revolutionary War veterans and four Civil War veterans buried here. The following is a list of some of the graves.
