Sometime after 1750 a frame type building was constructed and it remained in use until about 1828. The original settlers for the most part were Ulsterscots and Convenanters and dissenters and as time when along came a schism about 1825, this lead to the split of the original church and in the writers family one of he sons helped to establish the Associate Reformed Church which was located on Baltimore Street in Greencastle, as a result of the Seceders and Convenanters agreement in 1782 to unite into one church. For reasons unknown this church was later abandoned and a new church was built further West on Baltimore Street after 1897. This resulted in the graves at the Associate Church being moved to Cedar Hill Cemetery in the 1900’s. Some graves from Moss Spring Cemetery were said to have been removed also and probably to Cedar Hill, the contributor has three such missing graves, but are Greencastle burials, other families had similar experiences. Today Greencastle Presbyterian Church maintains the Moss Spring Cemetery of which no further burials were allowed after 1911. I received permission from the Greencastle Presbyterian Church to record the graves in the cemetery which I did. Later I accidentally discovered while doing some research several lists of three cemeteries located in the Greencastle area. These lists apparently were made long ago because many of the stones at Moss Spring are unreadable, missing or broken, but the list has complete descriptions of all of them. The following transcription for Moss Spring Presbyterian Cemetery, except for one record which is identified below, was originally compiled by Miss Susan A. Snively. The exact date of the transcription is unknown. However, research suggests that Miss Snively was born about 1865. ALLISON James Allison, Sen., b. Jan. 5, 1798, d.
