Old sheet of paper, 8 x13, faded brown ink. Has been folded in half, then in thirds. On one side: Franklin Co John Skinner 355.71 Ret 92d Ye 22d Nov 1787 On reverse: [Complicated survey map of land patent (24 sides) for John Skinner - a creek (unnamed, but as the land is in Horse Valley, it must indicate the Conodoguinet) runs through the middle with mountains on both sides] A Draft of a tract of land situate in the Horse Valley in the County of Franklin Containing 355 acres 71 pr Surveyed November 8th 1786 in pursuance of two Warrts granted to John Skinner, one whereof bearing date 13th June 1785 the other beating Date 17th May 1786~ Signed Matt Henderson John Lukens Esq S.G. Another paper, similar in size, shape and folding: One side: Franklin County John Skinner 410 A 76 per and Allow On reverse: [Survey map of another complicated tract (15 sides) Land on both sides of State Road which includes a creek in one corner.] 410 Acres, 76 perches and Allowances. Boundaries include land of John McAllen, Matthew Duncan, land previously owned by John Skinner, and Kittochtinny Mountain. Surveyed Feby 26th 1830 by William Brewster Jr Small piece of paper (1" x 7") included with this deed - June 22nd 1816 recd of John Skinner Senr thirty eight cents of road tax for the heirs of John Skinner deceased for the year 1814 by me Thomas Geddis 3. Large Deed 16 x 20" paper very course, deed is part form letter and part hand written. Upper left corner: 'York W.C. Smyth, printer.' Note: Samuel Wolgamode (as he signs his name) had his name spelled several ways in this indenture. This Indenture, made the Seventeenth Day of October in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and thirty-nine BETWEEN Samuel Welgamode and Mary his wife of the County of Washington and State of Maryland of the one part and John Skinner of Letterkenney County of Franklin and State of Pennsylvania of the other part WITNESSTH, That the said Saml Welgomode and Mary his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of twenty dollars Lawful money of the United States to them in Hand paid by the said John Skinner at and before the Ensealing and Delivery of these Presents, the Receipt and Payment whereof they do hereby acknowledge and thereof aquit and forever discharge the said John Skinner Heirs, executors and Administrators by these Presents Hath granted bargained and sold aliened, enfeoffed released and confirmed and by these presents Doth grant bargain sell alien enfeoff release and confirm unto the said John Skinner and his Heirs and Assigns ALL THAT - tract to land situate lying and being in the township of Letterkenney in the County of Franklin and State of Pennsylvania viz: The undivided half of four hundred and twenty five acres of Mountain Land more or Less adjoining lands of John Skinner, Abraham Rosenberger heires and the heires of William Cummins being the same land which was sold by David Washabugh by his Indenture dated the twenty eight day of Augt A.D. one thousand eight hundred and twenty three and duly recorded August term 1823 Referance thereunto being had will more fully and at large appear - which aforesaid Robt Robison and Eliza his wife by their Indenture bearing date the Sixteenth day of January A.D. one thousand eight hundred and thirty three for the consideration therein mentioned did covey the same unto James McFarland and the said James McFarland and Mahala his wife by their Indenture bearing date the fifteenth day of Aug in the year A.D. one thousand eight hundred and thirty five for the consideration therein mentioned did convey the same to Samuel Wilgamode once the said Saml Welgamode and Mary his wfie by therein Indenture bearing date the seventeenth day of Oct in the year A.D. 1839 for the consideration therein mentioned did convey the same to John Skinner party hereto TOGETHER with all and singular the Buildings Improvements Rights Liberties Privileges hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever of them the said Saml Welgomode and Mary his wife in Law or Equity or otherwise howsoever of in or out of the same. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said tract of mountain Land Hereditaments and Premises hereby granted or mentioned or intended so to be with the Appurtenances unto the said John Skinner his Heirs and Assigns: To the only proper Use Benefit and Behoof of the said John Skinner his Heires and Assigns forever. AND the said Saml Wilgomode and Mary his wife their Heirs Executors and Administrators do hereby covenant promise grant and agree to and with the said John Skinner his Heirs and Assigns by these Presents that they the said Saml Welgaomode their Heirs the above mentioned and described and Mary his wife and their Heirs and against all and every other Person or Persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof under them or either of them shall and will warrant and forever defend by these Presents. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the said Parties to these Presents have hereunto interchangeabley set their Hands and Seals the Day and Year first above-written. Sealed and Delivered in the Presence of, W Hunter William A Hunter Received, on the Day of the Date of the above INDENTURE, of and from the above-named John Skinner twenty dollars In full, for the consideration-Money above mentioned. BEFORE me the Subscriber, one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the said County, personally came the above-named Saml Welgamode and Mary his Wife and acknowledged the about Indenture to be their Act and Deed, to the End that the same might be Recorded as such. She the said Mary being of full Age and by me separately and part from her said Husband examined and the Contents of the said Indenture being by me fully made known to her, on her said private Examination she declared that she voluntarily and of her own free Will and Accord and without any Coercion or Compulsion on the Part of her Husband , did sign, seal and execute the same. In Testimony where of, I have hereunto set my Hand and seal, the sixteenth Day of November in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine.
