All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/franklin/ _______________________________________________ Lot No. 7 Chambersburg, PA Written: May 8, 1830 Recorded: June 28, 1830 Indenture Adam Treher To Mark Stratton Franklin County Courthouse Chambersburg, Pennsylvania Book 15, Page 105 This Indenture made the eighth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty between Adam Treher of St. Thomas Township, Franklin County in the State of Pennsylvania of the one part: and Mark Stratton of the Borough of Chambersburg, County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said Adam Treher for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars lawful money of the United States to him in hand, well and truly paid by the said Mark Stratton at and before the ensealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and therewith being fully satisfied, hath granted, bargained and sold; aliened, enssoffed and confirmed, and by these presents doth fully and freely and absolutely grant bargain and sell: alien, enssoff and confirm unto the said Mark Stratton his heirs and assigns, all that the hereafter described lot of ground, situate, lying and being in the Borough of Chambersburg aforesaid: bound on the South by lot No. eight; now of Patrick Hughes; on the North by lot No. 6 on the East by a sixteen feet Alley; and on the West by Front Street: Containing in Front on said Street, Fifty one feet two inches, and in depth two hundred and fifty six feet; Known on the general plan of said Borough by the Number Seven (being the same which Andrew Dunlop Esq’r and wife by deed dated … conveyed to Jeremiah Snider: who by deed dated 17th June 1793 conveyed the same to Nicholas Clopper; who with Rebekak his wife by deed dated first day of June 1801 conveyed to John Lettes; who with Susanna his wife by deed dated 7th February 1812 conveyed the same to John Hetich; who by deed dated 6th July 1812 conveyed the one half of said lot to Nicholas Buzard; who with Catherine his wife by deed dated 13th of February 1813 conveyed the same to James Kerr; who by deed dated 13 December 1819 conveyed the same to Adam Treher, party hereto) the other half of said lot was conveyed by Joh Hetich to Michael Treher, who being so thereof seized died intestate leaving no widow, but leaving issue five children to wit. Catherine intermarried with James Kerr, Susanna, Adam, Conrad, and Mary intermarried with Godfrey Michaels: who by their joint deed dated 13th day of December 1819 conveyed the same to Adam Treher party hereto, his heirs, and assigns. Together with all and singular the buildings and improvements thereon made or erected; profits, commodities, advantages, motaments, heriditaments, and appertenances whatsoever to the said described lot of ground belonging or in any wise appertaining, and the revisions, remainders, issues, and profits thereof, also, all the estate, right with interest use, popepion property claim and demand whatsoever of him the said Adam Treher in law orequity or otherwise howsoever, of in to or out of the said described lot of ground belonging or in any part thereof; together with all true copies of deeds evidences and writings, touching and concerning the hereby granted premises or any part or parcel thereof; to be had and taken at the costs and charges of the said Mark Stratton, his heirs and assigns. To have and to hold the said lot of ground as above described, and the premises, having granted, mentioned, or intended so to be, with the appertenances unto the aforesaid Mark Stratton, his heirs and assigns forever to his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof and to and for no other use, interest, meaning or purpose whatsoever; subject neverthedep to the annual ground rent hereafter becoming due and payable to the heirs or assigns of Benjamin Chambers deceased. And the said Adam Treher for him and his heirs doth covenant, promise grant and agree, to and with the said Mark Stratton his heirs and assigns, by these presents, that he the said Adam Treher and his heirs the above described lot of ground hereby granted, bargained and sold with the appertenances unto the said Mark Stratton his heirs and assigns against him the said Adam Treher and his heirs and against all other persons whomsoever legally claiming or to claim the same or any part there of shall unto will warrant and forever defend. In testimony whereof the said Adam Treher hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written.
