Adam Berger is laid up with a severe spell of rheumatism at the Union Hotel and confined to bed. Jacob Hamsher has moved to the Renfrew farm at Woodstock. He formerly lived near that place. Jeremiah Witter, grocer, of West Market street, has moved his family from Stonehenge to King street. Mrs. Cator, Baltimore, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Frederick Watts, Philadelpia Ave., left for home last Friday. Frank Duncan moved last week from Hamilton township to Second and Catherine streets. He has accepted a situation at the ice plant. Mrs. Taft and daughter, Miss Mary, are the guests of Hotel Montgomery, where Miss Taft will remain during the Easter vacation. Gen. J. M. Hood, president of the W. M. R. R., on Monday celebrated his 54th birthday. His many friends extend congratulations and best wishes. Capt. Geo. W. Skinner, wife and daughter, Miss Nella, passed through town last Friday morning on their way home to Big Cove Tannery, Fulton county. Mrs. Susan McKenna, accompanied by her daughter Alice and son Frank, left for Philadelphia last Thursday, where they will make their home in the future. E. Holler, North Second St., is still quite ill. Police Officer C. W. Bickley is on the sick list. Levi and Mrs. Kalbach, have returned to Chambersburg from Virginia. Mrs. Frederick Weitzel, north Second street, is ill with the effects of a spell of the grip. Mrs. B. F. Gilmore, West Market St., has returned from an extended visit to Milton, Pa. Miss Kriner, Shippensburg, was the guest of her cousin, Geo. A. Kynes, Esq., on Wednesday. H. Stoner Ludwig and family of Freeport, Pa., are the guests of relatives and friends in town. Master Lewis Smith, son of E. M. Smith, funeral director, of north Main street, spent several days in Martinsburg this week. Valentine Steck and Hayes Steck, father and son, sturdy citizens, were REGISTER callers last week. A. C. Strite, Esq., City Solicitor, of Hagerstown, spent Sunday with his brother, J. A. Strite, Chambersburg. Mrs. S. T. Slichter and daughter, Jennie, of Topeka, Kansas, who have been visiting for the past five months in the family of her brother, Lemuel Karper, at Letterkenny, left for her home on Tuesday morning. Before leaving for her western trip Miss Jennie accompanied her uncle Lemuel Karper, on a trip to Horse Valley and she was very much impressed with the mountain scenery. The young lady was born and raised in sunny Kansas, and never before beheld the enchanting sights presented by mountain scenery.
