Mrs. (Mary) Esther (Centennial) Shockey Carr, wife of Sherman Carr, foreman of the C., G., & W. St. RY, track repairmen, died at her home on Roadside Avenue, Sunday morning (Feb. 28, 1915), at 5:10 o'clock, after a brief illness (complications from childbirth), aged 38 years, 2 months and 27 days. She was born in Quincy, December 1, 1876, the daughter of Christian W. and Anna (Hoover) Shockey. All her life was spent in this section. She was a woman who had many friends. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren. She is survived by her husband, two sons and two daughters: Lloyd, Miles, Anna and Ida; by her father and three brothers and one sister: John O Shockey, Macon, Mo.; Henry Shockey, Waynesboro; Daniel Shockey, Highfield; and Mrs. Samuel Hollinger, Greencastle. Funeral, Tuesday. Services at house at 2 p.m., conducted by Revs. H. M. Stover and M. A. Jacobs, assisted by Rev. James Williamson. Interment in Burns Hill cemetery.
