All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/franklin/ _________________________________________ Mrs. Olie Vernal Carr, 64, of Mount Vernon Terrace, died today (13 Oct. 1965) at Franklin Farms (Chambersburg), where she had been a guest since March, 1964. She had been in failing health for five years. Born on Nov. 18, 1899, in Doylesburg, she was a daughter of the late Dominic and Melinda Hockenberry Doyle of Doylesburg. Since 1918, she lived in Waynesboro. She was employed at Mount Vernon Terrace until three years ago, when she was forced to retire because of her health. Surviving, in addition to her husband, Miles H. Carr, are eight children: Mrs. Violet Toms, Rouzerville; Mrs. (Katherine) Dean Gift, of Waynesboro; Harold Carr of Waynesboro; Mrs. (Margie) Charles Gunder, of R.R. 1 Waynesboro; Henry (Naomi) Carr of R.R. 6 Chambersburg; Leroy (Viola) Carr of Marion; Donald Carr and Claude (Verna) Carr, both of Chambersburg; 33 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. Lester Hammond and Mrs. Miles Varner, both of Spring Run; Mrs. William J. Gipe, of Waynesboro, and Mrs. William Walter, of Chambersburg; and one brother West Doyle, of Doylesburg. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 pm at the Grove Funeral Home, in charge of Rev. George Hatchner. Burial will be made in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home Thursday evening from 7 to 9 pm.
