Tuesday, June 17, 1986. He collapsed while doing roadwork in Hamilton Township, and death was attributed to a heart attack. Born June 29, 1927, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Miles H. and Olie V. Doyle Carr. His early life was lived in the Waynesboro-Greencastle area. He and his wife, H. Viola Hager Carr, were married in March 1946 and lived at the present residence for the past 28 years. As a young man, Mr. Carr was employed by Acme Stores Inc. and had been manager of it's stores in Waynesboro, Greencastle and Shippensburg. He was a protestant and a member and past assistant of Marion Volunteer Fire Co.; member of New Franklin Volunteer Fire Company, Rescue Hose Co. No. 1, Greencastle, Franklin County and Pennsylvania Fire Police associations, Junior Order of the United American Mechanics, Norland chapter 3261 of the American Association of Retired Persons, Pennsylvania Association of Township Supervisors and Chambersburg Club and Sportsman's Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American legion posts. all of Greencastle; and a social member of Seabee Club. Besides his wife, surviving are two daughters, Bonnie K Shatzer of Greencastle and Kathie D. Hays of Chambersburg; a son, Dennis L. of Marion; four grandchildren; and these sisters and brothers, Katherine M. Gift and Mrs. Charles Gunder, Jr., both of Waynesboro, Henry S. of Greencastle, Donald E. of Marion, Claude T. of Chambersburg and Harold W. of Gibsonton, FL. Service will be at 1:30 P.M. Friday in Grove Funeral Home, South Broad Street, Waynesboro. The Rev. John Ile will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Marion Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 68, Marion, PA 17235.
