All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/franklin/ _______________________________________________ DALE - Walter C.Dale, 66, 8715 Capitol Hill Road, RR#1, former employee of the South Mountain Restoration Center for 18 years, died at 5 p.m. Nov. 20, 1979, after being admitted to the Waynesboro Hospital. Death was attributed to a heart attack he suffered while directing traffic in front of the South Potomac Street Fire Hall around 4:30 p.m. He had suffered a previous heart attack in September 1978. Born in Chambersburg Feb. 3, 1913, Mr. Dale was the son of the late Frederick Z. and Edna Carr Dale. He lived his early life in Chambersburg and moved to Waynesboro in 1942. He married the former Hilda C. Overcash in August 1946. For several years he was employed by Brake Pontiac and later worked for Pryor's Tire Service. At the time of his retirement a year ago, he was supervisor of the housekeeping department at the restoration center. He was a life member of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association and was a member of the Eagles Club, Inc.; the VFW, the Tomstown Social Club and the South Mountain Fish and Game Association. In addition to his widow, he is survived by three sons: Walter F. Dale, Quincy; Donald E. Dale, Waynesboro; Ronald C. Dale, RR#1; two daughters: Mrs. Donna Lee Wagaman, Waynesboro; Mrs. Shirley Ann Toms, Foxville, MD; 13 grandchildren; a step-mother, Mrs. Margaret [Marguerite] Dale, Fayetteville; a brother, Harold Dale, Chambersburg, and a step-brother, Wayne Byers, Fayetteville. Services were to have been held today at 3:30 p.m. in the Grove Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Bonner officiating and burial in Grindstone Hill Cemetery.
