The first day in the Wayne-Holmes-Medina area claimed one life, by heart attack, and wounded four hunters, none seriously. John Sherman Ditch, 73, of Burbank died of a heart attack while hunting on a farm near Burbank Monday afternoon. Wooster Daily Record, Wooster, OH, November 17, 1959, pg. 1 DITCH - Burbank, John Sherman Ditch, 73, of Burbank died of a heart attack Monday while hunting on a farm near Burbank. Mr. Ditch was born at Shady Grove, Pa. and lived all his life at Burbank, except while serving the Erie Railroad as track supervisor from 1927-1933 in Greenville & Sharon, Pa. He retired as section foreman in 1954 working for 40 years for the Erie Railroad. Mr. Ditch was a member of the Harrisville Lodge F & AM, the West Salem Chapter, and Burbank Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife Bessie & two brothers, Charles of Wooster and Harry of Burbank. Funeral services will be 1 p. m. Thursday at Burbank Methodist Church, with the Rev. Archie Donigan officiating. Burial will be in Burbank Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Parker Funeral Home in Lodi.
