Second St., died at 9:10 a.m. yesterday in a Harrisburg hospital after a long illness. Born in Newport, in April 5, 1877, he was the son of the late Simon and Josephine Van Newkirk Etchberger. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, a veteran of the Spanish- American War, a member and past president of the Genl. Joseph B. Hutchinson Post of the USAWV, a member and past post commander of the Charles M. Nitterhouse post, 1599, VFW; Kearney Lodge, 159, Knight of Pythias, and the Junior Fire company. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Della M. Carr Etchberger; a son, John E. Etchberger, 244 S. Sixth St., and five grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Barbour funeral home with the Rev. Martin F. Foutz officiating. Burial will be made in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
