Mrs. Sophie Jones Ganoe, wife of the Rev. M. L. Ganoe, formerly pastor of the 
local Methodist Church, died at her home in Chambersburg Thursday morning, Feb. 
25.  Mrs. Ganoe had been sick about a month and was thought to be convalescing.  
She suffered a relapse Thursday and died within fifteen minutes.  The Rev. Mr. 
Ganoe was pastor here from 1875 to 1877, inclusive.  Besides her husband Mrs. 
Ganoe is survived by 2 children, Harvey Ganoe, president of the Chambersburg 
Council, and Mrs. W. C. Stephens, Carlisle.  The Rev. Mr. Ganoe has been an 
invalid for several years and the strain of the constant attention by Mrs. 
Ganoe, is thought to have broken her health.  Mrs. Ganoe was born in 
Philipsburg, Centre county, Jan. 17, 1848.
