Church St., Waynesboro, died at 4:30 P.M. Thursday shortly after being admitted to the Waynesboro Hospital. He suffered a heart attack while on his mail route, and had suffered a previous attack in 1973. Mr. Gift was born in Lemasters Feb. 3, 1919, son of the late Joseph E. and Ada E. Clapsaddle Gift. He lived his early life in Lemasters. For the past 31 years, he and his wife made their home in Waynesboro. He served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II. For a number of years Mr. Gift was employed by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board as a clerk in the state stores in Chambersburg and Waynesboro. He had worked as a letter carrier since being employed by the Waynesboro Post Office in 1955. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church; Crider Men's Bible Class of the church; Local No. 500 National Association of Letter Carriers; Eagles Club, Inc.; VFW; American Legion; South Chapter AARP; and Waynesboro Fish and Game Association and a charter member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Chambersburg. Surviving are his widow, Katherine M. Carr Gift; a son, Gary D. Gift, RR#^ Waynesboro; two daughters: Mrs. Karen S. Davis, Springfield, Ill.; Miss Sondra K. Gift, at home; three grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Josephine Gabler, St. Petersburg, FL; Mrs. Pauline Martin, Chambersburg. The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 P.M. in the Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with the Rev. Howard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
