(Ebensburg, Pa.) 1867-1938: October 21, 1869 At the residence of his sister, Mrs. Margaret Rodrigue, in New York City, on Monday the 11th inst., Mr. Mich'l Hughes, aged upwards of 75 years. The deceased was an elder brother of the late lamented Archbishop Hughes, and was the oldest member of the family. He was formerly a resident of Chambersburg, Pa., but passed the last few years of his life with his sister in New York. He spent a few days in the summer of 1868 in Ebensburg, and during his brief visit, he made the acquaintance and won the esteem of many of our citizens. He was highly respected by all who knew him for the patriarchal simplicity of his manners and the unobtrusive sanctity of his life, and was gathered to his fathers without an enemy, a pure minded old man and a sincere Christian. His remains were interred at Chambersburg on Thursday last. May he rest in peace.
