McGaw, aged 84 years, died at Hastings, Neb., last Tuesday morning. He was born near Chambersburg, but spent his early life in Ohio with his parents, who went to Stark county. Deceased was ordained in the United Brethren church in 1835, being transferred to the Methodist Episcopal church about ten years later. He was pastor of the West End Methodist Episcopal church in Pittsburg from 1863 to 1868. During the war he was known as the "War Preacher," and acquired quite a reputation as a revivalist and uncompromising Prohibitionist. For the past 25 years until last November, he resided with his son, H. L. McGaw, of Pittsburg. He went to Nebraska for his failing health. Four children survive him, two of whom, Homer L. and Hugh D.
