NEWELL, 80, R.R. 1, Orrstown, was dead on arrival at Chambersburg Hospital at 10:05 am Tuesday, September 7, 1976. He had been stricken ill at his home. Mr. Newell was born August 23, 1896, in Elmira NY, son of the late Eugene and Estella Heess Newell. He was a member of Lurgan United Brethren Church and member and former teacher of the Men's Sunday School Class. He was a retired foreman for the Hock Orchards, Roxbury. His wife, Gertrude Wiles Newell, died Jan. 12, 1962. Mr. Newell is survived by four daughters and three sons: Mrs. Kenneth (Estella) Farner, R.R.1, Fayetteville; Harry J. Newell, 39 N. Coldbrook Ave.: Robert K. Newell, R.R.4, Shippensburg; Mrs. William (Grace) Wilson, R.R.1, Etters; Mrs. John (Mildred) Myers, Roxbury; Richard L. Newell, Lurgan; Mrs. Fred (Beatrice) Kane, Orrstown; 38 grandchildren & 47 great-grandchildren; a brother and three sisters: Robert E. Newell, 18 Lincoln Dr, Fayetteville; Mrs. Nettie Shore, Marion; Mrs. Beatrice Vanderau, 110 Lincoln Way East., Fayetteville, and Mrs. Scott (Leda) Starr, R.R.2, Waynesboro. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, with the Rev. Leroy L. Perry and the Rev. J. Raymond Brant officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call at the John O. Park Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and at the church one hour before the service Friday. Public Opinion, Chambersburg, PA Date Unknown
