WILES - Mrs. Gertrude M. Newell, 65, of RR1, Orrstown, died yesterday [12 Jan 
1962] at 3:15 p.m. at the Chambersburg Hospital. A daughter of the late John 
D. and Irene Coy Wiles, she was born March 17, 1896, in Greene Township. Mrs. 
Newell was a member of the Lurgan United Brethren Church. Surviving are her 
husband, Charles B. Newell; eight sons and daughters: Charles E. of 
Shippensburg; Mrs. Kenneth Farner of RR1 Fayetteville; Mrs. Norman Reed of 
RR1 Etters; Harry J. of Upper Strasburg; Robert K. of RR3 Shippensburg; Mrs. 
John Myers of Roxbury; Richard L. of Lurgan; and Mrs. Fred Kane, Jr. of 
Orrstown; 37 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; 12 brothers and 
sisters: John Wiles of Hagerstown; Charles and Clarence, both of Donora; 
Reuben of Mechanicsburg; Walter of 409 Stouffer Ave.; Harvey of RR1 Orrstown; 
Harry of RR1; Mrs. Mary Mull of RR1 Fayetteville; Mrs. Fanny Gamble of 
Davenport, IA; Mrs. Alice Wolf of Hanover; Mrs. Rhoda Golden of Harrisburg; 
and Mrs. Nellie Farner of RR3 Shippensburg. Funeral services will be held 
Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, 
in charge of the Rev. J. Raymond Brant and the Rev. Leroy L. Perry. Burial 
will be made in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends will be received at the 
Barbour funeral home tomorrow evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.
