NEWELL - ROBERT E. NEWELL, 82, of 18 Lincoln Drive, Fayetteville, died 
Thursday afternoon (20 Feb. 1986) at Caledonia Manor, Fayetteville, where he 
had been a patient for two days. Born Oct. 31, 1903, in Chambersburg, he was 
the son of the late Eugene V. & Estella (Heess) Newell. He was a member of 
the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fayetteville. Mr. Newell had been employed by 
the Metropolitan Edison Co., Easton PA, for more than 42 years, retiring in 
October 1968. He was a member of AARP Chapter 2840. He is survived by his 
wife of more than 61 years, Ida P. (Carr) Newell; a daughter, Patricia A. 
(Richard) Smith, Telford, PA.; four grandchildren; three sisters: Nettie 
Shores & Beatrice Oberholzer, both of Chambersburg; and Leda Starr, 
Waynesboro PA.  Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the St. Paul 
Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kenneth E. Spangler officiating. Burial will be 
in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg. Friends may call at the church one hour 
prior to services on Sunday. Memorial may be made to Hospice, 144 S. 8th St., 
Chambersburg, or to the donor's favorite charity. Arrangements are in charge 
of the Park-Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
