Norris died at his home on east German street on Tuesday afternoon aged 59(?) years. His death was due to dysentery, though he had been ill from a complication of diseases for some months. He was one of the best known colored men of town, having come here from Leesburg, Va., in 1862 and soon thereafter opened a barber shop in town and continued thereat for more than 20 years. He was an active member of the M.E. church, a member of the choir and treasurer thereof. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. W. D. Allen, Bertha, Frank and William, Pittsburg, and Rev. E. Harvey C. P. Norris and Mrs. J. Monroe --- of town. One sister, Mrs. Mary Jordan, ------ also survives. Funeral took place ----day at – p.m. Interment in M------- cemetery. People's Register, Chambersburg, PA, November 1, 1901
