Patterson aged 89 years died at the home of his daughter Mrs. W. H. Wagonhouser near the White Mill above Roadside this morning at 8:20 am of gangrene after an illness of more than two years. He was removed to the Waynesboro hospital in 1933 and had his right leg amputated because of gangrene and after his discharge from the hospital had made his home with his daughter. Mr. Patterson was born in Washington County, MD, the son of Wesley and Margaret Unseld Patterson. He lived in the Glen Furney and Roadside sections for the last sixty nine years, moving from Washington Cty at the time of his marriage. He was a charcoal burner by occupation and was one of the very few who followed this trade still surviving. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren at Prices. His wife Martha Ann Calimer died in 1926. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. W. H. Wagonhouser of Waynesboro Rt. 4 and one son, George Patterson, Waynesboro, and an adopted son Charles Lookabaugh Patterson, Washington D. C. Three Grandchildren and seven great-grand-children and seven great-great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Merna Calimer, Shippensburg, Rt 3, Mrs. Amanda Ziegler, Cburg, and Miss Mary Patterson, Shippensburg, Rt 3 also survive. Funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the Grove Funeral Home, South Church street, in charge of Rev. Carroll Valentine. Interment will be made in Pentz's graveyard. The body may be viewed Friday evening at the Grove Funeral Home between the hours of 7-9PM. _____________
