Seventh St., died at 2am at the Waynesboro Hospital. He had been in failing health for several months and was critically ill since being admitted to the hospital, March 26. Mr. Shockey was born at Roadside, Jan. 24, 1900, son of the late George A. and Elsie M. Sheeley Shockey. His early life was lived in Waynesboro and as a young man he was employed in local industry. In 1928 he was employed by the Federal Government and sent to Panama where he worked on the Panama Canal. At the time of his retirement in 1960, Mr. Shockey was mechanical supervisor of the canal locks. He had lived in Waynesboro since his retirement. Mr. Shockey was a member of Hagerstown Lodge No. 217 AF & AM. He was also a member of the BPO Elks of Balboa, Panama. Mr. Shockey is survived by two brothers: George E. Shockey, Brooksville, Fla., and Howard W. Shockey, Alamosa, Colo. Also surviving are eight nephews and nieces. The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 am in the Grove Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Elwood L. Bair. Burial will be made in the Price's Church Cemetery.
