He was aged 35 years. Mr. Shockey was employed as fireman in the power house of the C., G., & W., St. Ry. [Railway] Co. until two years ago, when he was compelled to give up his position there because of ill health. Monday of last week he was seized a second time and he quickly failed after that. Mr. Shockey was born near Roadside, the son of Christian Shockey. He was twice married, his first wife being Miss [Sallie or Sarah] Needy, daughter of George Needy, and his second Miss Elsie Sheely, daughter of Samuel F. Sheely, manager of J. M. Newcomer's warehouse on South Church Street. He was a young man of pleasant disposition and of much energy as long as his strength lasted. He had many friends who will mourn his early death. He is survived by his widow, by five children--------- two by his first wife, Mary, who makes her home with her grandfather Needy, and [Charles] Leslie, who resides with his grandfather Shockey, and three by his second wife, Albert, Howard and [George] Elmer. He is survived, also, by his parents and these brothers and sister: John, Missouri; Henry and Daniel Shockey, of the vicinity of Rouzerville; and Mrs. Sherman [Mary Esther Centennial Shockey] Carr, Roadside Avenue; and Mrs. Samuel [Annie] Hollinger, Greencastle.
