I. Russell Sleighter Sr., 68, of RR#1, died Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the 
Chambersburg Hospital, where he had been a patient since Tuesday. He was born 
Dec. 22, 1892, in Hamilton Township, the son of the late John W. and Mary 
Foutz Sleighter. He attended the King Street United Brethren Church. Mr. 
Sleighter was an orchardist and formerly had done custom white-washing and 
tree spraying. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Martha J. Walker Sleighter; two 
sons, Irvin R. Sleighter Jr., St. Thomas and J. Walker Sleighter, RR#2; four 
grandchildren; and two brothers, Norman E. Sleighter of RR#2, and Lloyd M. 
Sleighter of RR#6. Funeral services will be held from the Barbour funeral 
home tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Rev. Dr. Clyde W. Meadows and 
the Rev. Omar Martin in charge. Burial will be made in Norland Cemetery. The 
family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 8 to 9 
o'clock.
