He died in his home with his family by his side. Born August 31, 1942 in Kinzers, PA, he was the son of the late Walter Charles and Nora Virginia (Plank) Tennis. He was a 1960 graduate of Pequea Valley High School, Kinzers, PA. He later went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Engineering from Penn State University, Mont Alto, PA graduating in 1968. Between high school and college he served in the U.S. Army in Greenland. Mr. Tennis worked in the field of surveying and mapping until his retirement from the Department of Interior Bureau of Land Management. His previous employment also included working for the Federal Highway Administration and Nassaux-Hemsley, Inc. He was a licensed land surveyor in Pennsylvania and Maryland. He served on the Quincy Zoning and Hearing Boards for many years. He was a member of the Franklin County Beekeepers Association, loved beekeeping, gardening, hunting, farming, making maple syrup, woodworking and carpentry, but he especially loved spending time with his family and friends. He was known for being generous and always willing to help others. He was a member of the Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church and attended the Quincy United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; 6 grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Quincy United Methodist Church. Rev. Rachel Horst officiating.
