Vanderau, 66, 696 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, Franklin County chief assessor and former restaurant and clothing store owner, died Thursday afternoon at the Chambersburg Hospital after an illness of several months. From 1952 to 1960, Vanderau was owner of Vanderau's Restaurant, North Main St. It was sold to a Somerset, PA man and is now called the Penn-Wilson. Vanderau and his brother also conducted the Bob and Ben's Clothing Store in South Main St. From January 1930 to December 1941, Mr. Vanderau served three terms as burgess of Chambersburg. He was appointed assessor in January 1960. He is survived by his wife and one daughter. Services will be held today at 2 p.m. from the Sellers Funeral Home with interment in Lincoln Cemetery.
