Will [appears in left margin of will book] In the name of God amen, I Elizabeth Knepper of Washington Township in the county of Franklin and State of Pennsylvania, single woman, being sick and weak in body but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof: Do therefore make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner following that is to say, first and principally I commit my Soul into the hands of almighty God and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my Executors, herein after named and after my just debts and funeral charges are paid I devise and bequeath as follows (that is to say) I give and bequeath into my beloved Nephew Abraham Knepper the plantation or tract of land whereon I now dwell, Together with all and ??????s the improvements & appurtenances[?], thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, To have and to hold to himself his Heirs and Assigns forever, excepting one square half acre, whereon the graveyards now is, with free progress[?] and regress[?] I do reserve free and clear to all persons whatsoever as a public burying grounds Provided nevertheless, that he the said Abraham Knepper or his Heirs, shall pay unto the rest of my legal heirs or their legal representatives the sum of two hundred and eighty pounds, lawful money of [END OF PAGE 319] - [TOP OF PAGE 320] Pennsylvania, in such payments as hereafter intentioned, and twenty pounds, one year after my decease to my Executors hereafter named, which twenty pounds they my executors shall distribute among the poor in this district at their discretion and two years after my decease, he the said Abraham Knepper shall pay thirty pounds as before mentioned, in part[?] of said two hundred and eighty pounds, and three years after my decease, the sum of twenty five pounds, and then yearly and every year the sum of twenty five pounds until the whole and full sum of two hundred and eighty pounds is fully paid and satisfied provided always nevertheless that the said plantation and premises, shall at all times stand and remain pledge for every yearly payment until the whole sum aforesaid is fully released; And I further provide and it is my will, that my sister Mary Martin or her legal heirs shall only have twenty pounds and no more out of the said two hundred and eight pounds; And concerning my personal estate, it is my will and I do hereby direct that it shall be equally divided among the legal heirs of my brother Peter Knepper dec: [deceased] and the heirs or children of my brother Abraham Knepper to be divided between themselves without any public sale; And lastly, I nominate and appoint my trusty[?] nephews Peter Knepper and David Knepper to be the sole Executors of this my last will and Testament revoking and annulling all former wills whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the eighteenth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred seven. Elizabeth Knepper - Signed, sealed, published, declared by the above named Testatrix as and for her last will & Testament in the presence of us who at her request in her presence and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witness thereto - John Howard, Jonathan[?] Dole, David Shaad - On the 10th day of April 1807 John Howard, John Dole & David Shaad, the witnesses to the foregoing writing appeared before me Register for the probate of wills and granting Letters of Administration for Franklin County and upon there solemn oath depose and say that they were present and saw and heard Elizabeth Knepper write her name unto and seal and publish the foregoing writing as and for her last will & Testament and that at the time of doing thereof she the said Elizabeth was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding according to the best of their knowledge and belief, that there name thereunto subscribed as witness is of there respective hands writing done at the same time.
