All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/franklin/ _______________________________________________ Source: County Clerk's Office, Franklin County, Pennsylvania Will Book A:105-106 Written: April 8, 1786 Recorded: March 17, 1787 In the Name of God Amen I Daniel Mowan of Antrim Township in Franklin County & State of Pennsylvania being of sound mind Judgment & memory as Usual do think Proper to make this my last will & Testament in waiting giving & bequeathing what worldly Estate I am Posses of in the following manner after my Just Debts & Funeral Expenses is paid Vis~ first to my well beloved wife Catherine I give & bequeath the one third of all my Personal Estate and two Cows to be kept for her by [?] off this my dwelling Plantation and her living in a house My son Ludwick Mowan is to build before harvest Coming by the spring on this my Plantation to be two story high with a good room in the upper story and the under story to be for a still house also my said wife is to get all the Rent this my place will bring year after year the Keeping the two Cows above mentioned & the Cutting& hawling as much wood as will be necessary for firing to my said wife and also for fuel or still wood to keep the still going when my son George Mowan will want or Require it my said wife & my son George (being blind) to live together in the new house to be built & Paid for out of my Estate and my said wife Catherine shall cook, wash and take care of my son George for & in Consideration of the rent of the Place, I have above allowed her, also I give her, my said wife her bed & Cloaths to the same & her wearing Apparrell & a side saddle but if my said wife does marry again then my will is that she shall move off the Place or Plantation & the Rents to be got afterwards shall go to support of my blind son George during his Natural life. Item to my son George I give my still to be sett up in the house to be built by the spring aforesaid and as much wood to be Cut and hawled to the still house in Cord wood as he will need for Stilling and the tract of land I bought of Jacob Snyder adjoining this my other Plantation all during his Natural life for his support but in Case he leaves lawfull Issue the said tract of land I bought of Jacob Snyder is to be for my said son Georges heirs & their Assigns forever- also I give my said son George one bed & Clothes as it stands Item to my son Stephan I give a Heiffer or three pounds specie which he shall Chuse more than I have Already given him Item to my sons Stephan, John, Baltzer, Ludwick, Daniel & Peter & to my Daughters Elizabeth Hartley, Catherine Stuff & Mary & Molly Mowans, I give and bequeath all my Estate both Real & Personal to be Equally divided Amongst them after the decease of my said wife Catherine & the Decease of my son George to each an equal share share & share alike – but my will is that after my decease my Executors shall get all my Estate Appraised both Real & Personal by Elias Davidson & John Johnston at Ready money Price and after the decease of my wife & son George any of my sons or Daughters that is able to Pay the land at said Appraisement may have it to them their Heirs & Assigns forever always giving preference to my son Daniel but if none of my Children will keep the land at the appraisement as above set forth then my Executors or any one of them shall sell the same at Publick sale & they or any one of them shall make a sufficient Deed for the same unto the Purchaser & It is my will that my Executors as soon as convenient after my decease shall sell all my Personal Estate at Publick And I do hereby Constitute nominate & appoint Frederick Boyers Sr. & James Johnston both of Franklin County to be the Executors of this my last will & Testament, also be as guardians to my blind son George In witness whereof I the said Daniel Mowan have hereunto set my hand & seal the 8th Day of April 1786 his Signed Sealed Published & declared Daniel + Mowan By the Testator to be his last will & Tes mark tament in Presence of us the subscribers who in the testators presence & in the Presence of each other have hereunto set out names as Witnesses at the Request of the Testator.
