A son of the late Daniel Carl Mellott and L. Blanche Mellott, he was born on March 4, 1901, at Needmore. On June 6, 1925, he was united in marriage with Florence W. Wertz. The couple resided in Amaranth where Mr. Mellott was a caretaker with the State Highway Department. Besides his wife, one son, Gerald E. Mellott, of Defiance, Ohio, and two grandchildren survive him. Also surviving are two brothers: Fred R. Mellott and Herman H. Mellott, both of Amaranth; and one sister: Mrs. B. L. Harper of Black Lick, PA. Mr. Mellott was a member of the Whip Cove Christian Church where funeral services were held on September 4 at 2:30 P.M., with the Revs. T. P. Garland and Paul Gettinger officiating.
