Glen F. Smith, 78, McConnellsburg, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2001 
at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka, FL. 
Born in Warfordsburg November 23, 1922, he was the son of the late Walter G. 
and Sarah (Mann) Smith. He retired from the former Fairchild Aircraft, 
Hagerstown, MD after 38 years. He was the husband of Hope (Mellott) Smith whom 
he married June 4, 1942. 
He was a member of McConnells-burg United Methodist Church and he also attended 
Welaka United Methodist Church in Welaka, FL. He served in World War II in the 
U.S. Army and graduated from Warfordsburg High School and also enjoyed hunting 
and farming. 
In addition his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Phyllis (Mrs. Donald) 
Bard, McConnellsburg; Joanne (Mrs. James) Coffman, Mercersburg and Jan Beppler, 
McConnellsburg; two sons: James F. Smith, Big Cove Tannery and Gerald Smith, 
McConnellsburg; a sister, Mary Sipes of McConnellsburg; 15 grandchildren, 24 
great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death 
by a sister, Edith Lake and a brother, Jobie Smith. 
Funeral services were held at the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church at 
11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31. Pastor Donald Bard and Elder James Coffman 
officiated. Burial was made in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg. Military 
services were conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard. The Sipes Funeral Home in 
Harrisonville was in charge of arrangements.
