Steven W. Szwydek 10/27/05 
Warfordsburg, 20 

Lance Cpl. Steven Walter Szwydek, 20, Warfordsburg, was killed Thursday, 
October 20, 2005, while conducting combat operations in Nasser Wa Salaam, Iraq. 
He was stationed with the U.S. Marines Weapons Co., 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines, 
RTC-8, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C. 
He was born April 18, 1985, in Portsmouth, Va., the son of Mike and Nancy 
Szwydek, Warfordsburg, the brother of Scott and Stephanie Bard, Warfordsburg; 
Gregory Craven, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Corey Szwydek, Warfordsburg. He was 
the grandson of Merle and Betty Huffer, Jefferson, Md., and the late Walter and 
Lucy Szwydek, Portsmouth, Va., and the late Ronald E. and Elaine Stephens, 
Chesapeake, Va. 
He was a 2003 graduate of Southern Fulton High School, where he was a member of 
the FFA, baseball team and made many friends. He was a cherished son, beloved 
brother, an avid hunter and loyal American. He had a lifelong ambition to serve 
his country in the military and he was proud to be a member of the United 
States Marine Corps. 
Services will be held Friday, October 28, at 11:00 a.m., at Needmore Bible 
Church. Rev. Doug Poffenberger will officiate. Burial will be private, with 
full military honors, at Arlington National Cemetery. 
The family will receive friends at Needmore Bible Church, 6939 Great Cove Road, 
Needmore, Thursday, October 27, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to 
11:00 a.m. on Friday. 
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 
Marine Corps League, Fallen Heroes Fund so that other military families can be 
blessed and comforted, also donations may be made to Mike and Nancy Szwydek, 
c/o Fulton County National Bank, 560 Great Cove Road, Warfordsburg, PA 17267. 
Transportation arrangements were handled by Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, Md.
