Trueax 02/13/02 Surfside Beach, S.C., 77 Guy Layton Trueax, 77, Surfside Beach, S.C., died Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at home after a long illness. Born February 14, 1924, in Fulton County, he was the son of the late Earl H. Trueax and Velma Layton Trueax. He owned and operated a dairy farm in Fulton County for over forty years, prior to moving to the Grand Strand in 1994 with his wife. He was a member of The First Baptist Church, Surfside, S.C. He was a World War II veteran and served in the South Pacific as a staff sergeant in the Engineering Corp. He was a member of the VFW in Breezewood and Surfside Beach for thirty years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Garlick Trueax, whom he married on February 10, 1944, in Everett. Also surviving are their seven children, and three daughters: Diana Bard, Westford, Mass.; Charlotte Cooley, Woodbridge, Va., Sherry Johnson, Shermansdale, Pa., four sons: Duane Trueax, Crystal Spring, Stuart Trueax, Greencastle, Roy Trueax, Dillsburg, Pa., Perry Trueax, Washington, D.C., 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at McKendree Church, Emmaville, Saturday, February 16, at 1:00 p.m. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Rev. Delmas Bard officiated.
