The Cumberland Presbyterian Church was a Presbyterian body formed during the Great Revival of 1800. The revival caused disagreement within the Presbyterian Church (USA) both over the mechanics of the revival and over allowances the pro-revival faction was willing to make in order to secure ministers for its rapidly expanding following. Cumberland Presbyterianism was introduced into Western Pennsylvania in 1829 by the Rev. H. M. Boone and John H. Ogden. There is little known historically about the cemetery. The DAR records indicate that the cemetery was in very nice condition with the church and cemetery surrounded by trees. This data was collected by the DAR and found in the genealogy section of the Citizens Library in Washington, PA. The data is from 1938 so the burial records may not be complete.
