We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ Jeremiah Long died on his farm on July 4, 1820, resulting in (Greene Co OC Docket, 10/1820): "On the petition of Jane Long, widow and relict of Jeremiah Long late of Dunkard Township, deceased, setting forth that the said Jeremiah lately died intestate leaving issue seventeen children, namely: Nathan Long; Jeremiah Long; Francis Burge, wife of (William) Burge; Priscilla Dye, wife of (Vincent) Dye; Richard Long; David Long; James Long; Elizabeth Johnson, wife of (Perry) Johnston; Sarah Williamson, wife of (James) Williamson; Willliam Long; John Long; Mary Long; Samuel Long; Jane Long; Ruth Long; Hester Long and Sarah Ann Long. And also an infant enventre and that said intestate died seized in his domain as of fee of and in a certain tract of land lying in said Township adjoining land of David Jones and others and containing One hundred and twelve acres more or less. The petitioner therefore prays that an inquest may be awarded to make partition to and among the children of said intestate or if such partition cannot be made then to value and appraise the same and make return of their proceedings at the next Orphan's Court for said county. Therefore the Court award and inquest and that publication be made in the Waynesburg Messenger four weeks preceding the inquest as notice to the heirs living in other states. Exit Writ issued 18 Sept 1820 At the Orphans Court held at Waynesburg the 19th of March AD 1820. Writ returned by the Sheriff together with an inquisition thereto assigned in which the Jury state that the ____ will not admit of a division but that they have appraised the same at Nineteen hundred and eight dollars out of which the widow's dower is estimated at and allotted to be twenty six dollars and sixteen cents." And on 6/21/1821, "Waynesburg: Petition of Jane Long...her late husband (Jeremiah Long) died intestate and left a number of children and some real estate and personal estate...during life (of the) intestate considerable advancements were made to some of the children...auditors requested to ascertain such advancements...Court appointed Robert Maple Esq, Richard Kerwood Esq, and Dr. William Johnson...11/7/1822 report presented: to Nathan Long,$10.00; to Frances Burge, $17.75; to Richard Long, $48.00; to Jeremiah Long, $18.00; to David Long, $40.00; to Elizabeth Johnson, $41.00; to William Long, $70.00; to James Williamson, $42.00; to James Long, $71.00; to John Long, $40.00...3/18/1823 above confirmed except part charged to Richard Long. Objection later waived." "December 18th 1821 On motion Rule on the time and legal representatives of Jeremiah Long late of Greene County deceased to appear at the next Court to be held in Waynesburg for the County of Green on the Monday of March next and elect to take or refuse the real estate of the deceased at the valuation, an order that this rule be published four weeks preceding the said Court in the Franklin Gazette or Waynesburg Messenger. March 18th 1822 The heirs and representatives of Jeremiah Long decd all called. None answered except Lot Lantz Esq guardian of the minor children who appeared and refused to accept the land at the appraised value. June 18 1822 Rule on the heirs and legal representatives of Jeremiah Long late of Greene County deceased to appear at the Court house in Waynesburg on the first day of next term which will be on the 11th day of November next and show cause why the real estate of the intestate shall not be sold Exit copy of Rule issued 10th August 1822. November 11th 1822 the heirs and legal representatives of Jeremiah long decd being called gave no answer." "11th January 1823. On motion the Court order that Jane Long administrator of the estate of Jeremiah Long deceased who died intestate sell at public sale or outcry the real estate of the deceased on the premises on the first Monday of March next: One third of the purchase money to be had on the first day of April next when possession is to be given the balance in two equal annual payments.--The deed to be made on payment of the whole purchase money. Exit copy of Rule issued Greene County. To the Honorable Judge of the Orphans Court of Greene County. In pursuance of an order from the Honorable Court for the sale of real estate formerly the property of Jeremiah Long decd in Dunkard Township the said sale was exposed to public sale on Monday the third instant and the said estate was cryed of to Richard Long for the sum of eight hundred and six dollars and fifty cents. The said Richard long being the highest bidder. Jane Long, Administrator 18th of March On Motion Sale confirmed ___1824 Recd June 24 of Wm Hays, Clark, five dollars inpart of my dower of the estate of Jeremiah Long decd. Jane Long Received of William T Hays Clk twenty dollars the 9th May 1823. Richard Long paid Richard T--man a Juror on the Inquisition $1.00 Paid Henry Six, a Juror " " $1.00 Recd of Clk one dollar my fee as a Juror John Gapen Received of William T Hays Clark of the Orphans Court thirty five dollars and fifty cents my dividend of the real Estate of Jeremiah Long decd Oct 8th 1829 John Long Received of William T Hays Thirty nine dollars and sixty cents it being the dividend of the real Estate of Jeremiah Long decd allotted to my wife Frances Burge October 26th 1829. William Burge Received of William T Hays by the hands of Richard Long Twenty dollars and fifteen cents June 7th 1831 this is my proportion of Frances Burges share of the personal estate William Burge Received of William T Hays clark of the Orphans Court four hundred and fifty three dollars it being the distributive share for Mary Long, Samuel, Ruth, Sarah Ann and Melinda Long minor children of Jeremiah Long, both as to real and personal estate and a calculated up to the 8th September 1829 Lot Lantz, guardian I acknowledge satisfaction in full for the share of Elizabeth Johnson here share having been sold to me on a ____ to June Term 1821st 18 is far as the sale under her interest in William G Hawkins Jeremiah Longs share is $37.60 William Longs share 5.50 David Long " 35.50 Se authority for lifting them filed James Long share is 4.50 Benjamin Dye share 75.50 Richard Long 27.50 _______ $186.10 Recd of William T Hays Clerk of Court the above one hundred and eight six dollars and ten cents as calculated up to the 8th Sept 1829, it being in full of real estate and personal estate Jeremiah it only apply to him as the rest August 29-1832 I also acknowledge the amount of an assignment for Jane Williamson to Jane Rinehart and from her to me. This is to be a credit as the Clerk of Orphans Court. But I have not recd the amount which is $33.50 Richard Long Receipt of John Johnson for Elizabeth which is $34.50 paid by clerk."
